Enter Funscripted, the game born from our mission to eradicate awkward silences and mind-numbing small talk once and for all. The game is so fun that even your grumpy uncle will crack a smile. We’ll teach you how to play, but know that the only rule we really take seriously at SolidRoots is that you get to decide how you want to play our games. Make it your own and ignore everything we are about to say if you want! But before we dive into the game, let's cover some essential tips to set the stage for a lively evening.

1. Set the Ambiance: Okay, we’re not suggesting you go full Marie Kondo on your entire house, but your living room deserves some TLC. As your guests gather in the living room, it's the perfect moment to serve some delicious appetizers and create a welcoming atmosphere. You can't go wrong with lighting a candle and offering a charcuterie board to delight everyone's senses.

2. Table Talk: Create an inviting space for everyone when it comes to your dinner table, think of it as the heart of your party. Set it up in advance to ensure everyone has a cozy spot to sit. Double-check that you have enough chairs, silverware, and plates for all your guests. This way, no one’s left awkwardly balancing a plate on their lap! For an added touch of thoughtfulness, consider crafting DIY place cards with a special note for your guests. It's a simple gesture that can make them feel extra special and appreciated.

3. Keep Your Dining Room Drama-Free: Avoid turning your dining room into a decorative obstacle course. Simplicity is your friend here. A massive centerpiece blocking everyone’s view is a no-go. Keep it chic and simple, so your guests have room to eat, chat, play, and avoid any awkward spills. A tasteful DIY centerpiece will set the mood without hogging the spotlight.

Who Can Play Funscripted?

The real question is, who can't play Funscripted? It truly is fun for all ages and the content is safe for kiddos too. It’s the perfect game to play when you host your friends for dinner or when you go out to eat and want to make it extra fun. Any family gathering is also the perfect time to play,  family dinners, family reunions, Thanksgiving, Christmas, you name it!

Here is how the game works. Funscripted comes with 3 different cards:

  1. RULES CARDS have unique rules written on them that must be followed by the player that drew the card at all times during the game. Holding multiple cards means following multiple Rules. If you ever catch someone breaking one of their Rules, call them out! They then lose that Rule and must put it back on the  bottom of the deck. Rules cards help you score more points, so try your best to keep as many as you can!
  1. CHALLENGE CARDS have different challenges on them that the players must complete to earn points. Some are more difficult than others, and are worth more points, shown in the top corner of the card. Completing a Challenge means you get to keep the card and it will add to your score.
  1. CONVERSATION STARTER CARDS have hilarious topics or questions on them to spark interesting chit-chat at the table. One card is drawn for the whole group each Round to talk about together. The card is drawn just after everyone gets a new Rule, so it is a good opportunity to catch people out for not following them. Just make sure you stick to your own!

Rules for Playing Funscripted

The game is played over a series of rounds, seamlessly blending into the chaos of your dinner party. A round consists of the three actions below:

  1. Complete a Challenge: One brave soul draws a Challenge card, reads it aloud, and attempts to complete it. If they succeed, they keep the card and earn points. If they fail, well, they get to enjoy the walk of shame back to the deck. The player to their left then takes their turn.
  2. Don’t break the Rules: After everyone has had their shot at glory, each player draws a Rule card and adds it to their personal rulebook. Make sure to announce your new Rule to the group so they can catch you in the act when you inevitably break it!
  3. Do some crazy talk: Draw a Conversation Starter card for the group and dive into a topic that’ll have everyone laughing, debating, or both. It’s the perfect time to see who’s not following their Rules—just make sure it’s not you!
  4. Keep repeating these actions until there is a winner - or until you decide you want to play - again, you are in charge here, not us !
